{"id":2980,"date":"2021-05-16T01:40:56","date_gmt":"2021-05-16T01:40:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greenlionwoodworks.com\/blog\/?p=2980"},"modified":"2021-05-31T02:07:37","modified_gmt":"2021-05-31T02:07:37","slug":"oops-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/greenlionwoodworks.com\/blog\/2021\/05\/oops-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Oops (#1)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I was working on some finishing for a sofa table that I&#8217;m making, doing as much of it as I can before I glue the whole thing together and create hard-to-reach places, when I accidentally knocked my jar of garnet shellac off the table, sending it smashing to the concrete floor, spewing shellac in a beautiful splatter pattern which will certainly spruce up the dull, boring gray of the concrete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/greenlionwoodworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/sawdust001.jpg\" alt=\"Planer Sawdust Pile\" class=\"wp-image-2983\" width=\"208\" height=\"196\" title=\"Planer Sawdust Pile\" srcset=\"https:\/\/greenlionwoodworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/sawdust001.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/greenlionwoodworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/sawdust001-300x284.jpg 300w, https:\/\/greenlionwoodworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/sawdust001-768x728.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 208px) 100vw, 208px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fortunately, I am a serial procrastinator and, having used the planer last weekend to mill all the boards for said sofa table, I had yet to clean up the giant pile of sawdust that had resulted. I&#8217;d swept it into a neat (but large) pile, but it&#8217;s just been sitting there all week&#8230; a nice big mix of walnut and white oak sawdust preventing me from parking in the garage for an entire week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yes&#8230; that&#8217;s how bad my procrastination is. But really, the weather was nice this past week, so parking outside wasn&#8217;t a problem. That&#8217;s my story and I&#8217;m sticking to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/greenlionwoodworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/oops.jpg\" alt=\"Shellac Spill\" class=\"wp-image-2981\" width=\"402\" height=\"275\" title=\"Shellac Spill\" srcset=\"https:\/\/greenlionwoodworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/oops.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/greenlionwoodworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/oops-300x206.jpg 300w, https:\/\/greenlionwoodworks.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/oops-768x527.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 402px) 100vw, 402px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyway&#8230; because I had this wonderful pile of sawdust and shavings, I had the perfect ingredient for sopping up a bit starburst puddle of garnet shellac. I tossed a few handfuls on the shellac, waiting a minute or so, and swept up what I could.
