I do quite a bit of sketching when I’m coming up with a new woodworking project design or jotting down notes and sketches for possible future use. Even when I’m using existing plans from another designer, I sometimes make changes and add or subtract a doo-dad or two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To help with all this sketching and note-taking and idea jotting, I got a reMarkable Tablet<\/a> back when it was fairly new (version 1), used it for a bit and then donated it to my daughter for her to use in college… partly out of fatherly generosity, but partly as an excuse to get the newer version 2 model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both models have a “writing on paper” feel and include a lot of features that make sketching plans and taking notes really simple… without all the distractions of a regular tablet. This is sort of a single-purpose, electronic notebook\/sketchbook… without any unrelated bells and whistles and without the ability to play Candy Crush (or whatever the kids are playing these days). It’s also super lightweight and is roughly 8″ x 10″.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most recently completed project used it was The Over-sized Dice Tower<\/a> for The Adventurers’ Academy<\/a>. I went through tons of draft designs, crazy ideas, stupid ideas, and eventually settled on the design for the tower I ended up building (obviously).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I’m not affiliated with reMarkable<\/a> in any way. I don’t get anything when someone orders one (if only!). I just love using it and thought I’d pass that along. It’s a bit pricey, I think, but totally worth it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
